Explorer Series
Available in solid roof or pop-top configuration. A purpose-built hybrid caravan designed for serious off-road touring, combining rugged Australian engineering with refined interior comfort.
One Proven Explorer Platform, Two Touring Styles
The Trakmaster Explorer range delivers serious off-road capability in a compact hybrid caravan designed for Australian conditions. Built on a rugged hot-dipped galvanised chassis and equipped with independent trailing arm suspension, the Explorer platform is engineered to confidently handle corrugated tracks, remote touring and extended off-grid travel.
Available in both solid roof and pop-top configurations, the Explorer gives travellers the flexibility to choose the touring style that suits them best. The solid roof model provides full-height interior comfort and instant setup at camp, while the Explorer PT pop-top offers a lower travel height and improved aerodynamics for easier towing and storage. Both models share the same proven chassis, suspension system, external kitchen layout and rugged off-road design that define the Explorer platform.
Serious Off-Grid Capability and Practical Touring Design
Both Explorer models are designed for extended remote travel with strong off-grid capability built in from the factory. A lithium battery system, Redarc power management and rooftop solar capacity allow the van to remain self-sufficient far beyond powered campsites, while generous water storage supports longer stays in remote locations.
Outside, the Explorer features a large front storage compartment and a stainless slide-out external kitchen designed for practical outdoor living. Inside, a well-planned layout maximises sleeping space, storage and comfort without increasing the overall footprint of the van. Whether you choose the solid roof Explorer or the lower-profile Explorer PT, both models deliver the same balance of durability, smart design and touring comfort that makes the Explorer range such a capable off-road hybrid caravan.
Premium outdoor entertaining and kitchen prep
The Explorer features a practical external kitchen with stainless steel cooktop, integrated sink and smart storage, making outdoor meal preparation simple and efficient at camp.
Roof Options
Solid Roof
The solid roof Explorer delivers full-height interior comfort with maximum insulation and convenience. With its fixed roof design, setup is simple and immediate — making it ideal for travellers who want the quickest possible camp setup and consistent interior space wherever they stop.
The aerodynamic nose design integrates large front storage while maintaining a strong, compact off-road profile. Combined with Trakmaster’s heavy-duty suspension system and hot-dipped galvanised chassis, the Explorer is built to tackle rugged tracks with confidence.
Dimensions and weights:
- Travel Height: approx. 3000mm (including air conditioning)
- Travel Length: approx. 6340mm
- Travel Width: approx. 1990mm
- Tare Weight: approx. 2060kg
- ATM: approx. 2850kg
Pop-top Roof
The Explorer PT takes the same rugged Explorer platform and integrates a smart pop-top roof system designed to improve aerodynamics and reduce overall travel height.
In travel mode the PT sits significantly lower, improving towing stability and fuel efficiency while making it easier to store in garages or sheds. When parked, the actuator-driven roof raises smoothly to provide comfortable stand-up height inside the van.
Despite the reduced travel height, the PT retains the same off-road capability, storage solutions and interior comfort that define the Explorer range.
